Antibacterial activities and mineral induction abilities of proprietary MTA cements

چکیده

Mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) cements are used in direct pulp capping and many other applications, several types of these products have been commercialized. The aim this study was to examine the antibacterial effects mineral induction abilities three conventional MTA one resin-modified cement. Agar diffusion tests revealed that, after setting, all four exhibited little against Enterococcus faecalis Streptococcus mutans, with no significant differences among materials. After 24 h, E. S. mutans suspensions incubated presence each cement did not exhibit reduced numbers viable bacteria, compared those same bacterial without any cement; indicated that none inhibited growth. Furthermore, lower ability, cements.

Crystallochemical comparison between Portland cements and mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA).

PURPOSE The aims of this study were to compare the crystal chemical properties of some commercial mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) and Portland cements (PC) and to propose a new white MTA product. METHODS The samples (four MTA and two PC types) were analyzed by 1) optical microscopy; 2) laser granulometry; 3) X-ray diffraction and fluorescence; 4) scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electr...

Study of two MTA cements

INTRODUCTION To determine and compare the pH, conductivity and calcium release of an experimental Portland cement (PE) consisting of trioxid mineral aggregate and a comercially available modified Portland cement (C.P.M.) after 1, 2, 3, 4, 8, 10, 15 and 30 days. MATERIAL AND METHODS Cements were mixed following the manufacturer's instructions, with a powder: liquid ratio of 3:1. Each cement wa...

Evaluation of physico-chemical properties of Portland cements and MTA.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the hydrogenionic potential and electrical conductivity of Portland cements and MTA, as well as the amount of arsenic and calcium released from these materials. In Teflon molds, samples of each material were agitated and added to plastic flasks containing distilled water for 3, 24, 72 and 168 h. The results were analyzed with a Kruskal-Wallis non-parame...

Comparative chemical study of MTA and Portland cements.

Portland cement has been analyzed and compared to mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) because of their chemical similarity. The possibility of using this material as a less expensive alternative to MTA in dental practice should be considered. In view of this, the present study compared the components of a Portland cement (Votoran) to two commercial brands of MTA (Pro-Root and MTA-Angelus). Twelve ...

Cytotoxic effects of White-MTA and MTA-Bio cements on odontoblast-like cells (MDPC-23).

This study evaluated the cytotoxic effects of 2 mineral trioxide aggregate (MTA) cements - White-MTA-Angelus and a new formulation, MTA-Bio - on odontoblast-like cell (MDPC-23) cultures. Twenty-four disc-shaped (2 mm diameter x 2 mm thick) specimens were fabricated from each material and immersed individually in wells containing 1 mL of DMEM culture medium for either 24 h or 7 days to obtain ex...
